‘Ghost Adventures: Goldfield Hotel’ Special is a Terrifying Investigation

Alice Oscura, Paranormal Investigations Head Writer

The Ghost Adventures crew returned for the final visit to the location that shot them to fame over 11 years ago, the Goldfield Hotel.

In this two-hour special the members of GA are tested to their limits. Located in Esmeralda County, Nevada, the team has made significant discoveries about the Goldfield Hotel over the years. The main one being the fact that the building was constructed on a large deposit of quartz. It is believed that the quartz emanates a geomagnetic charge that acts as fuel for any residual paranormal activity.

The investigation turned out to be intense and emotionally charged as GA host Zak Bagans pointed out that three people who were a large part of their previous investigations were now deceased. Two of them were fellow paranormal investigators Mark and Debby Constantino, who were integral in helping Zak capture some of the most compelling EVP (electronic voice phenomena). The Constantino tragic murder-suicide in 2015 was a shock to the paranormal community, and some have even hinted that something more sinister may have been responsible. The third person was the owner of the Goldfield Hotel, Red Roberts, who passed away in October 2020.

Returning to the special, during their first night of investigation Zak invited renowned psychic medium Chris Fleming to join in the hopes of identifying the entity that repeatedly calls Zak’s name during multiple EVP sessions. Instead what ends up happening is the beginning of a hellish encounter with an entity that the team encountered in a previous investigation. The enraged entity used Fleming to channel himself as he voiced his displeasure in the location having so many visitors and that Zak was the one to blame. As Fleming tried to push out the angry entity it immediately entered Aaron Goodwin who tries to attack fellow team member Billy Tolley with an inhuman-like strength. The residual rage affects Zak and Aaron later on in the night causing them to get aggressive with each other.

Fleming steps in and points out that the entity is trying to divide and conquer members of the team so that it disrupts their investigation. Tolley is later attacked by something that causes his entire body to become rigid as he screamed in terror. His heart rate began to climb dangerously high and Bagans had to remove him from the building for him to calm down.

Goldfield Hotel doesn’t disappoint in the GA team’s fourth and final visit. It felt like something more personal for Zak based on his experiences at the location and his connections. They needed a sense of closure, although I am not too sure if this was achieved here with all the negative activity that they suffered. There is something dark that resides at Goldfield Hotel that feeds on people’s pain and suffering. The episode is intriguing, terrifying, and mentally heavy, and it’s a strong start to Ghostober, Discovery+’s month-long Halloween celebration.

Alice’s Score: 8 out of 10
