And just like that, the streak of bad horror movies for 2020 so far, has been broken. Hallelujah!
Director Leigh Whannell (Saw, Insidious) shows once again you don’t need a huge budget and a lot of bad CGI (I’m looking at you The Mummy) to make a stellar thriller. The man has a great eye and uses empty space the way A Quiet Place used silence to ratchet up the tension to almost unbearable heights.
But none of it would’ve worked as well, if not for the PHENOMENAL performance of Elizabeth Moss. If you’ve seen The Handmaid’s Tale (or frankly, any of the movies she’s been in) you know this woman has the gift of making vulnerable-turned-strong characters jump off the screen. And here she once again proves she will take you to the finish line every time! But don’t get it twisted, co-stars Oliver Jackson Cohen, Harriet Dyer and Aldis Hodge all do wonderful work with their parts, so you’re never bored by anyone of them.
The pacing was perfect, the editing was on point and The Invisible Man is ironically the one you should definitely see this weekend.
Damn this was good!
