Review: I saw 2025 Sci Fi Horror Ash being discussed on a few Sci Fi/Horror Facebook pages and as most of the reviews were positive I decided to check it out. And I am glad I did, because it is pretty cool watch. I went into the film blind and I would recommend you viewers do the same as well. And I will be keeping this review spoiler free, so feel free to read on.

Ash has a small cast and only two main performers, Eiza González (From Dusk till Dawn: The Series, Alita: Battle Angel, Bloodshot, 3 Body Problem) as astronaut Riya Ortiz and Aaron Paul (best known for peak tv series Breaking Bad but who served up Sci Fi thrills in Black Mirror’s sixth season) as fellow astronaut Brion Cargyle. Both deliver strong performances and carry the film throughout. The production value and the visuals here are also solid and help suck the viewer into the tense and chilling atmosphere.
Director Flying Lotus (record producer, DJ, filmmaker, and rapper Steve Ellison) does a fantastic job of keeping the viewer unsettled and on edge throughout most of the film. As a seasoned film watcher and reviewer I can read most films like an open book, so it always refreshing to not know what is happening or what is going to happen.

Ash is not a perfect film and unfortunately features the trope of smart characters doing extremely dumb things for no good reason. And there is a major plot hole that undermines the great twist. But it is an enjoyable watch with a sense of exploration for the science fiction fans and some body horror and thrills for the horror fans. I would recommend not sleeping on this one.
