Sommerleigh Pollonais, Senior Writer
Plot: An ex-marine is hired by a defense contractor to travel to Panama to complete an arms deal. In the process he unwittingly becomes involved in the US invasion of Panama.
Review: I adore Cole Hauser (Yellowstone, Pitch Black) but even my love for him can’t save this nothing of a movie.

Panama plays like a throwback to the action spy flicks of the 80s, and even if it’s based on true events it’s the kind of event I don’t think anyone is interested in seeing. The score grates on your nerves as music seems to play over every scene including conversational ones, none of the characters are remotely interesting, with your typical stock villains and heroes in the mix, and if you’re somehow hoping to see Mel Gibson circa Lethal Weapon you’re in for one helluva letdown because he’s basically guest starring here as he pops up in about three scenes and then he’s gone. I honestly don’t know why he’s even here but I’ll give him this, he seems like he’s having fun with it.

Take my advice, if you’re in the mood for some old school action, go watch an actual 80’s action movie and avoid the very uninspired Panama at all cost. It’s not worth the effort it would take to press play.
Sommer’s Score: 4.5 out of 10
