As Whovians continue to mark the days off their calendars until Doctor Who returns for the Christmas Special, we keep getting little trickles of news about Series 10, which began filming in Cardiff on June 20 and will air in Spring 2017.
We already know that Twelfth Doctor (Peter Capaldi) will be joined by new companion Bill played by Pearl Mackie.

The latest news is that River Song’s bumbling former assistant Nardole (Matt Lucas) will be returning. Nardole appeared in the Christmas Special “The Husbands of River Song” and saw him get uploaded in the robot body of King Hydroflax together with River’s husband Ramone. We last see Nardole and Ramone in the Hydroflax body working as a waiter at the Singing Towers restaurant. According to the BBC Lucas will be appearing in the first episode of Series 10.
As I wrote in my post https://atomic-temporary-111559004.wpcomstaging.com/2016/06/11/doctor-who-watch-top-9-stories-from-series-9/I was not a big fan of that Christmas Special but Lucas was decent as a comedic character and I don’t mind him coming back.

Also returning for the new series is Michelle Gomez as evil time lady Missy. The character has become a fan favorite and I personally find her quite delightful. Missy is so fine and she blows all our minds.
She appeared in the penultimate and final episodes of Series 8, “Dark Water” and “Death in Heaven”, and the first two episodes of Series 9 “The Magician’s Apprentice” and “The Witch’s Familiar”, but no word yet on which episode we will see her in for Series 10. We last saw her with a bunch of Daleks and saying that she had “an idea”. I presume we will find out what that idea is but I doubt it will be anything good.

One character who is not confirmed but Capaldi would love to return is the Doctor’s granddaughter and first companion Susan Foreman. The character, played by Carole Ann Ford, appeared with First Doctor William Hartnell in the very first episode “An Unearthly Child” in November of 1963 until “The Dalek Invasion of Earth” in 1964 (see the goodbye clip below) and then returned for the 20th anniversary special “The Five Doctors” in 1983.
Ford in an interview with Doctor Who Magazine reported meeting Capaldi and the actor telling her “Oh, you should come back!” Now young Susan was a bit whiny and a screamer but, as I said in my post https://robotmangoreviews.com/2016/06/01/jacks-out-but-who-should-be-in-top-6-most-wanted-for-doctor-who-christmas-special/ it would be great to see an older Susan and discover her eventual fate.
So would you like to see Susan back? How do you feel about Nardole or Missy returning? Feel free to comment below.
