Superman will FINALLY appear in full in ‘Supergirl’

Woke up this morning to learn that, after teasing us for an entire season like the fisherman with the dollar in that State Farm commercial, we are finally going to see Superman on the Supergirl TV series.

Now mind you we have seen him from afar, as a kid, in silhouette and read his texts. We’ve even seen a close up of his super boots! Good times. It was like Wilson from Home Improvement but with more cape.

Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, speaking on behalf of fellow producers Greg Berlanti and Ali Adler, said “Greg, Ali and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl. Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!”

This news comes after less than stellar viewership the show was moved from CBS to the CW where it will join DC shows like The Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow. What’s interesting is that DC, unlike Marvel, has kept their TV and movie universes separate – so that’s a no on Henry Cavill – and has blocked the TV shows from using certain characters. The removal of the Suicide Squad and Amanda Waller from Arrow is a prime example.

So to have Superman, one of their biggest movie properties, appearing on Supergirl is a major policy shift. I presume the Supergirl producers previously kept Supes in the shadows as not to overshadow Supergirl and he will likely only appear now and again. I look forward to seeing who will be cast.

So who do you think should be cast as Superman? Should Smallville’s Tom Welling don the blue and red tights? Feel free to comment below.

  1. I hear the smallville crossover special in canned so that made me lose interest in this transition. If they did do it could you imagine all those millions of fans willing to watch super girl just for that reason?

    1. Okay. I didn’t know they were planning a Smallville crossover. But I feel they will cast an unknown actor for Supes. If Tom Welling appears it will probably be in a different role like what they did with Dean Cain.

      1. And that my friend would be lame because a smallville crossover would have done that show some justice where as casting a new supes would just be saying its gonna be the same ole crap everyone was complaining about only with another new face superman who should be mad CBS was stealing all his story arcs to begin with, lol nah but its true

      2. lol well Arrow been poaching from Batman from day one so it appears to be a DC thing. Only Flash seems to have enough story that they don’t have to borrow from other characters.

      3. But super girls story arc is way more bad ass then Superman’s and isn’t that the point of making a TV show. Its an adaptation so what’s to stop writers from going beyond the original storylines? That’s how Harley Quinn was created and its way better then stealing like every story arc from another character. Its lazy man

      4. Well let’s hope they up their game next season. Once they get rid of Jimmy I am happy. That guy is less exciting that earwax and he and Kara have zero chemistry.

      5. Well I like everyone else. Would be sorry to see Winn or her sister go. I’ve been hearing that Calista Flockhart may leave due to the change in shooting locations which would be unfortunate. Cat Grant is a great character.
