Just when you thought it was safe to head down to Vegas for some fun times a Sharknado hits (for those not in the loop that is a tornado with sharks).
This is the premise of Sharknado: The 4th Awakens (what a great title), the fourth installment of the Syfy cheesy disaster horror films which began with the first Sharknado in 2013, a so bad it’s good film that people had so much fun tweeting about that it broke Twitter.
The teaser trailer begins with funky lounge music, the advertising catchphrase “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” and scenes of bright lights and a woman gambling. Then the shark hits the fan and we sees sharks flying, a man punching a shark, a Chippendale stripper bouncing a shark off his crotch and an Elvis impersonator doing something. It is stupidly awesome.
We also get a shot of our returning hero Fin (Beverly Hills 90210 alum Ian Ziering) and our other heroes gathered. Now with Sharknado and these other Syfy monster films you either love them or love to hate them. They are ridiculous and silly but fully embrace that so everyone is in on the joke. Personally I find them hilarious.
The films also attract cameos from B-Z list celebrities and on the poster we have David “don’t hassle the Hoff” Hasslehoff returns as Fin’s father and former NASA colonel “Gil”. We also have a black guy in some sort of robot suit. The last film had Fin go into space and fight sharks with a light saber inspired chainsaw. Who knows where they will go with this one.
